60-Day Meditation Retreat at the Panditarama Forest Center
Saddhamma Foundation has already begun organizing this year’s meditation retreat at the Panditarama Forest Meditation Center from December 1, 2010 to January 31, 2011. The meditation retreat is an opportunity to practice intensive mindfulness and insight meditation under the guidance of Sayadaw U Pandita and some of his principal disciples. This is a rare opportunity to practice satipatthana vipassana meditation with living Buddhist meditation masters at a supportive Burmese meditation center. Last year’s retreat was full, so we recommend applying as soon as possible.

Saddhamma’s 2009 Health, Nutrition and Dana Projects
With your generous support, Saddhamma Foundation has continued to assist the Panditarama Forest Meditation Center and the Gant Gaw Myaing Monastery over the past year. As we’ve done in past years, we have provided purified drinking water at the Forest Center, given donations to increase the amount and quality of food served daily at the Forest Center and the Gant Gaw Myaing Monastery, and supported the training of novice monks under the guidance of Sayadaw U Pandita and Sayadaw U Sasana. Some project highlights:
- In our ongoing effort to ensure purified drinking water is available at the Forest Center, we donated $6,000 for water between 2008 and 2010. This will supply the center with purified water until the beginning of 2011.
- Saddhamma Foundation gave $4,500 to support the novices at the Forest Center; this is sufficient to support the 20 novices for one year.
- We also donated over $10,000 to Sayadaw U Sasana to support his novice training center know as the Gant Gaw Myaing Monastery, and also to help develop a small meditation center outside Yangon.

News from the Panditarama Dhamma Family Gathering in Burma
In early February 2010, the Panditarama Meditation Center in Yangon held the first Panditarama Dhamma Family Gathering. The meeting was an opportunity for Sayadaw U Pandita’s followers from Burma (also known as Myanmar) and abroad to gather for Dhamma talks and discussions about our Sasana work.
Representatives from Panditarama Meditation Centers in the United States, England, Australia, Nepal, and Singapore spoke about their meditation centers. The main theme was Sayadaw U Pandita’s supportive and inspiring leadership, which has contributed to the successful establishment of meditation centers around the world. The meeting was also an opportunity for the senior monks to meet and discuss how to continue Sayadaw U Pandita’s Dhamma mission.
The Panditarama Meditation Center in Yangon plans to hold this Family Gathering each February following the retreat at the Forest Center.

Buddhist Meditation Books by the Venerable Sayadaw U Dhammajiva
Saddhamma Foundation helped edit two books about mindfulness and insight meditation by the Venerable Sayadaw U Dhammajiva of the Mitirigala Forest Meditation Center in Sri Lanka. U Dhammajiva trained with Sayadaw U Pandita as well as one of Sri Lanka’s foremost meditation masters. These books, “In This Life Itself” and “Towards an Inner Peace” are now available online for free downloading. We strongly recommend them to anyone who is earnestly interested in Buddhism and Buddhist meditation.
