Hemavata Sutta

Satagiri speaks--
The full moon rises, shining clear and bright,
Joyous are the devas in the flower-filled night.
Ashin Gotama, he who is thus named,
Is our Blessed One, who we will go venerate.
Our Buddha's mind is virtuous and clean,
Possessing equal compassion for every being.
Towards good and bad objects from wrong thoughts he's free,
Everything he wishes he can accomplish with ease.
Things which are not given he does not steal,
Others he does not torture, nor does he kill.
From heedlessness his mind is far away,
In jhana our Buddha always stays.
He does not lie or slander others,
Rough and coarse words he never utters.
Words which bring benefit he knows and speaks,
Pure and unsullied is our Buddha's speech.
To sensual things he has no attachment,
His mind is clear without any resentment.
Delusion he has conquered with all his might,
Our Buddha's wisdom shines with a brilliant light.
With the three and eight knowledges he is replete,
With the fifteen conducts he is complete.
Having extinguished all cankers he is totally clean.
Free from future becoming is our dhamma king.
Pure in behavior, in speech and mind,
Fulfilled in knowledge and conduct of every kind.
Ashin Gotama, he who is thus named,
Is our Blessed One, who we will go venerate.
The Buddha speaks--
If the six exist, then the world exists as well,
Interlinked with one another these six things dwell.
Those who cling to the six human beings are called.
For the sake of these six they toil and fall.
The five senses, and the sixth one the mind,
Are clung to and taken as "I" and "mine."
If you remove the liking for these,
You'll be a yogi who from suffering is freed.
If you have pure morality inside,
And with sati you meditate to tame your mind,
Tranquility you'll gain, wisdom's light you'll know,
You'll be a yogi who across the deep floods can go.
If you avoid clinging to sensual pleasures,
And if you can overcome all the fetters,
Attachment, desire and existence will cease,
You'll be a yogi who won't drown in rivers or seas.
Satagiri speaks--
The Buddha and dhamma with countless virtues abound,
Which travel from one village to another town.
We'll move mountains and forests both old and new,
We shall go spreading the dhamma true.
